Review: Film review – The Terminator (1984) – Personally I think of this film as a cult classic but to be fair this is not accurate as it was a success in its day. Still, it feels like a cult classic.

Arnold Schwarzenegger plays The Terminator of the title, a cyborg sent back from the future in-order to assassinate Sarah Connor played by Linda Hamilton. But Kyle Reese played by Michael Biehn has also been sent back to protect Connor and just gets there in time. He saves her life but a never ending chase begins as the unstoppable cyborg continues to try to kill her and Reese tries to keep her alive.

This film is now considered a classic piece of Sci-Fi, Arnies Terminator has become legend and some of the lines in the film have become catch phrases all over the world. “Come with me if you want to live”, “I’ll be back” and so on.

Everyone involved with this film came out smelling of roses. It helped the careers of James Cameron, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton (especially after she reprised the role in Terminator 2: Judgement Day).

A Science fiction classic, hugely entertaining and for its time, ground breaking.
